I painted this near the boat ramp down the road from our house. The sun was high, so in order to get shade on my palette I had to stand right next to a tree that kept tickling my head while I painted. The Georgia red clay soil is a beautiful, bold color and I love how it could be seen under the shallow water. Yes, I was standing in the sand and at one point my brush fell, so there is a slight bit of sand in the painting.
