Duality
Growing up in Hong Kong, a city I proudly call home, I find myself always being caught up in the city’s fast paced urban lifestyle. After moving to the United States for university, I have learned to enjoy making art at home to cope with the feeling of missing home and my family.
This is my first ever oil painting, and I aim to express the opposition of me at home in Hong Kong versus my current self — me in a different country with a different lifestyle. I also chose to use color inversion to depict the contrast between the two identities — one from the past and one I have created for myself.
