Dockside at Lake Rhodhiss
I immediately was drawn to the little point out in the middle this particular morning. There was still a mist over the lake and the sun was rising just beyond it, causing the sharpest contrast between the point and the brilliantly lit water behind it. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture this the way I had planned so a subsequent painting may follow. I was participating in an en plein air event and was relying on transportation every day. So I had to render this painting different times of day than when I had originally planned but I still feel as though I captured the essence of that still beautiful lake. An imprimatura underpainting of burnt sienna was followed by subsequent passes of color to establish the atmospheric perspective.
