Acrylic on primed aluminum panel. This is my third painting on aluminum, working at achieving luminosity and depth of color with the acrylics. Painted in studio from plein air sketches. My focus for this painting was the personality of a local peregrine falcon that lives on a nearby ranch. I worked at muting the background colors while highlighting the moss and old wood. I also wanted to give the impression of softness of the bird's feathers and indications of movement against the frozen stillness of the landscape.
