Pon Lepotek
Every afternoon this neighborhood, known as Pon Lepotek, in the Saint Lucian village of Laborie, has the best lighting of anyplace I’ve ever seen. The warm sunlight reflects off the water where wooden fishing boats are moored and filters in through the coconut and mango trees giving the neighborhood a dappled, golden light. This was a typical afternoon; children and adults are enjoying the remaining minutes of afternoon before heading home for supper, hair is being combed and braided, water is being carried from a standpipe, and neighbors pass the time with each other as they watch the sunset.
