Midday Slump
My paintings are an exploration of photographic memory, the feminine experience, the personality of objects, and blunt "datedness" of photography. I strive to allow others to resonate with my paintings through the objects and bodily gestures in an image. I am most interested in the memories that revolve around atmosphere and bodily feelings. One of my favorite aspects of representational painting is how closely connected it is to photographic memory. My process involves painting for photos I dig up from deep in my camera roll or old family photo albums, and I often find myself questioning whether the photo describes the memory or the memory describes the photo.
